Microblogging social media platform Twitter has fianlly agreed to dialogue with the Nigerian government a week after the platform was suspended by the federal government. Last week the minister of Information Lai Mohammed announced the suspension of the platform after it deleted a tweet by President Buhari.
Twitter Policy said in a statement shared on its platform noted that it’s been a week since it was suspended in Nigeria. It stated that it had informed the Nigerian government that it was ready to meet for an open discussion to address mutual concerns and see the service restored.
The Senate president Ahmed Lawan has finally addressed the suspension of the microblogging platform by the federal government. He declared that Nigeria needs “Twitter”, he said during the celebration of his administration’s second year in office. He said the Senate was convinced that the Federal Government and the platform would eventually resolve their difference.
